About Us!

Callie and Brian about us.jpg

Hi! We're Callie and Brian Bauer. In 2016 we started a little production company called Shady Pines Media. We make music videos and record bands, solo musicians, and artists of all types in our basement recording studio in Portland, Oregon.

Up until recently, we also hosted 2 open mics here in town--first at EastBurn Public House, and later at Cruzroom Annex as well. Over the past few years we’ve had the the pleasure of working with many amazing and talented people, and becoming part of a vibrant and inspiring community of artists here in Portland.

By early March 2020 it was becoming apparent that the pandemic was going to throw a wrench in our studio and event work, and we made the decision to put it all on hold about a week before widespread lockdown began.

We quickly pivoted to doing a live-streamed open mic, where artist near and far Skyped into the show and performed, or presented a video.

In late March, our friend Zack Wolk gave us a pep talk inspiring us to start our own online radio station, highlighting the artist community we've helped facilitate over the years.

We fell in love with the idea, and launched Shady Pines Radio that same week. Today we have a diverse array of DJ’s and hosts doing weekly shows from their homes every day of the week.

We also host our own weekly show on Sunday nights called Nocturnal Submissions, where we play original songs submitted to us by artists from Portland and beyond.

Today Shady Pines Radio is our primary media endeavor. It keeps us connected to the artist community, and helps keep artists connected to their audience, and continue to expand it during this crazy time. We love doing this, and we believe in it.

We believe that with your support, we can turn this station into something truly special. A radio station that is accessible to creatives of all stripes.

A place where you can tune in and hear performances by your friends, yourself, artists you love, and ones you’ve never heard before. A sonic playground where people can experiment, share ideas, and discover new sounds.

A spotlight. A satellite. A megaphone. A virtual stage based here Portland, and extending far, far beyond!
